We know our life experience informs us; it stores traces of happenings, sightings, and feelings. Often I can't place where a certain colour or wide energetic movement comes from as I paint but I know I need to express it.
This weekend I took a drive to the area where I grew up. Summer memories of cycling early morning, listening to meadowlarks singing, it all flooded back. Summer exploded around me, country side slid past as I drove back into my childhood. The country silence was immense. A quick visit to a place in my past strikingly informed me how deeply it has left an impression that often needs to be revisited and find expression with colour and energetic mark in my paintings.
